Churn Dash Quilt

I have been feeling a bit out of sorts for the past few days and so decided a new project was in order! It amazes me how playing with pretty fabrics, cutting them up and resewing them back together again can make me feel so happy!

As a member of the Tasmanian Modern Quilt Guild,  I am intrigued by improvisational piecing and free form quilt designs. However, as a new quilter, I feel that there are a lot of traditional quilt blocks I still want to make.

The block that has grabbed my attention recently is the Churn Dash Quilt Block. I am following a tutorial by Amy Smart (diary of a quilter) on We All Sew (tutorial here). I love how this tutorial allows you to make two blocks at once!

The fabric I am building my quilt around is a fabric by Lori Mason for Andover Fabrics called Mineral Forest. All of the fabrics used are from my stash and include some Shot Cotton and Cotton & Steel fabrics.

I am only one third of the way there with 10 blocks finished out of 30, so I still have a few more blocks to make…!

But I am already feeling much better, so that’s a good thing, don’t ya think??
