It was a perfect Autumn day today down here in Southern Tasmania, Australia.
A perfect day for the beach…
and for taking photos of Finished Quilts!
My Marcelle Medallion Quilt has taken a while to finish (you can read more about this quilt in previous posts here and here)…
but I am so happy with this quilt and how it has turned out!
I kept the quilting quite simple…
mostly stitch in the ditch and straight line quilting.
I used grey Gutermann thread for the quilting and pieced together a back using some lovely soft Japanese Sevenberry fabric and a strip of orange Carolyn Friedlander botanics fabric. For the binding, I used a pale aqua Andover fabric which I think worked perfectly to finish off this bold quilt!
This project is my May finish for A Lovely Year of Finishes.
Happy days! Deb 🙂

I originally intended to use an aqua strip on the back, but ended up unpicking it and replacing it with the orange. So glad I did! Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment!

Thank you. The backing fabric was discovered by a quilting friend of mine before I even finished the quilt top!

The strangest thing just occurred. I just finished paging through my brand-new-off-the-truck book, ‘The Modern Medallion’, and saw this pattern in the front of the book. I click through your comment that just popped in, and there was the same quilt! (I should play the lottery today!)
Your color work is really well done here, and I enjoy the variety of fabrics you’ve used. The backing is spot on! You have a lot to be proud of in this quilt. Congratulations, Deb.
