Star Wars Success!

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…IMG_20151028_134749598a quilt was made for a boy by his loving mother for his eighth birthday!

This quilt was made using the Plus Quilt free tutorial @ For the Love of George. This project was started in March and you can read a previous post about it here.

I used all of my bought-over-the-course-of-twelve-months-with-this-project-in-mind-fabric but the quilt wasn’t quite large enough to pass as a snuggle/lap quilt.

(You can see this in comparison to my daughter’s Cotton & Steel Quilt below.)

Thankfully I was able to find a matching tone-on-tone red “Pebbles Blender” fabric to use as a border and binding to bring this quilt up to a respectable size of 46″ x 60″.

I found this great black and white print for the backing which I think helps counteract all that colour on the front!

I have managed to keep this quilt a secret from my son and it is now hidden away until his birthday in a few weeks time. I hope he will love it!

This finished quilt is my October goal for a Lovely Year of Finishes.
